Marketing an ecommerce site to the trade

We're looking at expanding our sales to our web site. All the products are supplies that the auto refinishers would use to repair car bodywork.

How would you go about marketing an ecommerce site to such a trade?

What are you doing so far to attract traffic?

Nothing as yet, the site isn't completed.

When the site is up and running I plan to carry out all the usual SEO tactics which seemed to work reasonably well on the other sites I've done. I was thinking more along the lines of direct marketing.

Also, was the website design, build and maintenance outsourced?
