Hey guys,

I just can't grasp a dissertation question to base my research on. I want to base it on social networking linked to business.

It would be most appreciated if anyone could make suggestions!

Thanks a lot!!

P.S Im studying a business degree, and have submitted a proposal for a weak subject i am ditching, so i am at the stage of just wanting to start the project!

I did mine in less than a week when I put the days together, so I wouldn't worry too much. Although I did know the subject very well...

How about something around LinkedIn, and increasing use of independent social networking beyond the traditional corporate boundary.

See if you can dig out case studies of business extending LI to provide cross-pollination, talent acquisition, HR systems and innovation development, there's bits and bobs out there.

What subjects did you take all the way through? I'd suggest basing it on those.

i.e.

Marketing:

The Impact of Social Networks as a B2B Marketing Tool

Finance:

The Financial Implications of a Social Network presence in the Dental Industry

HR:

The Growth of Internal Social Networks in Multi National Enterprises

What is your original topic? TBH, I think you're perhaps just panicking now and maybe you'd be better sticking with or enlarging your original topic rather than binning it all and starting again with a few weeks to go.

I picked something that turned out to be too narrow to enable me to find decent research material and then had a bit of a wobble about it but chose to enlarge the remit rather than binning it all.

How about exploring the concept of using the web to help people form ideas for their business degree?

If you are short of time, writing about something cutting edge with no real recognised reports and other papers to reference, I think you will save yourself a couple of weeks by scrapping that idea and thinking of something else now rather than then.

Agreed, I've got just under 4 weeks to do mine, I'm currently only about 20% of the way through but know the ubject very well and pretty much no exactly what I have to do so not panicing too much yet.

When I did mine I was a bit stuffed as my PC monitor died and PC World took an age to replace it.

I had to do it by borrowing a friends from 9pm until the morning. 14,000 words in 6 nights.

You guys have nothing to worry about.

And before you ask, that wasn't a degree in hairdressing as South Gloucester Tech, that was the dissertation for a 2:1 in Business at Manchester Uni. smile

How about something on the "Social Semantic Web" (Web 3.0) - networking content and knowledge between professionals making it easy for information integration, dissemination, and automation.

I did the same thing with my topic, picked something lame at the beginning of the year and changed at the last minute to something that would puch the boundaries a bit more. 8 nights of 9pm 'til 1am and an A grade.
