I'm involved with a business that offers bespoke granite street furniture and planters to businesses and councila all over the UK. We often get asked to engrave a business name or town name into the Granite.

Normally this means a special order to the factory but it would be much easier to engrave a stock product.

How would text and/or a company logo normally be cut into stone these days? My colleague is talking about using a CNC machine but I'm not sure he's aware of the costs!

Thanks.

I should perhaps add that some of the granite planters are cut from a 1.2m cube and weigh about a Tonne !

I think i'ts an expandable ring which you put in your chuck/vice to hold a piece in place from the inside i.e. inside the bore.

from my experience the easiest way is to sandblast...
i would even look to subcontracting it out to local monumental
masons who are fearde up for lettering..
you would need a hell of a lot of volume to justify cnc machine..

Thanks for all the replies and emails - I'll respond to the emails later as that's my home address.

Big thanks to WorAl for pointing me towards MCR Odlings - They have provided us with a very nice snad blaster sample of our company logo. I think their portable blaster will be the way for us to go.
