Just to warn you that I've charged the vid camera & shall expect a small demonstration from everyone that's in the running for the noise award!!
(unless all the citizens of Wells are seen walking around with fingers in their ears)

Will make a nice little post-event vid too!

I thought the most amusing sight today was 30 cars (mine included) parked at the bottom of the biggest rock face in cheddar gorge right in front of a large sign saying unstable rocks liable to fall and each owner thrashing the bejesus out of their respective motors. Anyone ever seen what vibration can do to unstable rocks!! We might have driven home with more than just a few stone chips

Thats when the 2 old dears took a 5 mile detour around Stainless's rear (not that I have heard his rear) but they didn't like the sound of it so went via Bath to the other side of the car

Jeff

Your beastie sounded fantastic when I was following. I was trying to keep the Tusc quiet so I could hear you accelerate up the road. Don't be so quick to chop it in for a different model.

Cheers Bob, only joking, keeping the 400.

Its a refreshing experience to hear the very big Wedges giving it what for. 2 SEAC's on the run and 3 (Rev's was around the corner) in one place.

Looking forward to Mania.

Hey - don't remind me about that - I'm seriously
pissed off about that ... spend 2 bloody days
polishing it and had to park it away from the
event.

Some numpy marshal sent me round town a few times..
on a wild goose chase.. then someone else (pebbledash ?) said - green's full even though I had
the right colour ticket - saying something like
the race car/dealer lineup was not happening...

Bit dissapointing to be turned away after driving
200 miles but that's life eh..

Was chuffed to get nominated for a bottle of wine
though by 'Monkey' - I think he is just after a ride
in the SEAC myself.

A ha that was monkeys award :makesnotesforfuturereferance:

The problem with wells, is the one way system. To put it mildly its Sht!

IIRC I spoke to you on the green (you were in deWalt shirt correct?) and explained that as NONE of the race cars had turned up and, as a result the race car line up was not going to happen. I also said you could park with the others, but I think rather than getting lost in the one way system, you opted to stay where you were.

There were a few issues with the gate marshalling, and some who had tickets for the green, were parked in the market place and palace, and some got onto the green who should not have, but rather that create problems sending people off the green who should not have been there, it was decided to let them stay.

With the number of cars coming to the event, 170ish and only being allowed to park about 100 on the green it was inevitable that some cars would not be on the green and, from speaking to lots of people on the day, they all had a great time wherever they were parked the palace and market place were part of the event.

Did you park in the palace or the market place?

Parked in the market place at 2pm.

Had to leave the alarm on - so it probably went
off a few time - as it does not like people
looking in thru the glass.

Your right about the one way - it's a nasty one. I met a few other lost TVR's on the way too.

I think if its done again a few signposts and marshals in wells directing the wayward TVR's to the right place would be a distinct advantage.

Did you come into wells with a convey down the B313x (can’t remember the road number d’oh)? The plan was for people to ALL turn up at the entrance road to the Green, those with the correct tickets should then been allowed to proceed and those with tickets for the market place/palace directed around the corner left at the mini rounder bout, then left into saddlers street then left into the market place. Thus avoiding the perils of the ‘expertly designed’ wells road system.. BTW the EXPERT who designed the road layout for wells lives in Taunton, and from what he has created can only assume he has never visited wells…

Regards.

You said to me that the green was full and the
only option was the square or palace. I was a
bit put out when a Tuscan pulled in 30 mins later
but hey his is a new car and mines just a rusty
old one

No - I was not in a convoy .. just solo.

Came from the cheddar road ... found a cathedral
and could not find the green (along with a few other TVR's..) eventually a bit of lateral thinking -
hey what if it's not the only churchy type building
in town - let look somewhere else and found it.

I don't want to make more of this that it is - it
really takes some time, effort and patience to organise something like this - so well done.

aha you found St Cuthbert’s church then!! Yup it is big, we get lots of American tourist making the same mistake..

I did have others say to me on the day that. They could see the cathedral but could not work out how it get to it.

I presume you sampled the local hospitality and the hog roast while at the event..

As a nominee for the Dave "muttering" Morgans award for the Best number plate and the winner of the TVR Monkey award. No doubt there will be a mention of you in sprint with the article.. From some of the setups and shots Tony took of TVR 2 while i was there in the morning, I think the article will be a bit of a picture fest..

All the best. and see you again at some future event.
Mark

I think I set your alarm off at one point by peeking in through the open roof!

We saw the bypass a few times on our travels round Wells. Ended up going back to the original place that we'd been sent away from in order to get onto the green, as per our tickets. Got there in the end!
