Hi all,

We have a Dell latitude C400 laptop. Some of the keys (3) have come off - due to a roll of sticky tape making too much kinetic contact

Managed to get 2 back on but they are not holding correctly.

Anyone got any tips on the correct approach to refitting? Or at worst case cost of replacement keys. I'm sure they cost pennies to build but pounds to fit

Thanks

Dave

Glad you've asked this one! I've got a C600 with one loose key!

Part of me says take one working key off to see how it hangs together and then the other half says don't compound the issue by making it worse.

If you work it out let me know. I think we've broken one of the 2-piece plastic swivel type mechanisms that sit under the key. At the moment the girlfriend has no top to the 8 key.

Our address is number 8 and she is furiously trying to send out address labels for e-bay. Sods law eh?

Still, worse things happen at sea

I've refitted some before (heavy handed relative with too much tea) and if I remember correctly the answer was to have the little metal X configuration fitted by its four littel corners and then a firm and even press on the key will lock it on. If not let me know and I'll take one apart and work it out again.

I could do with half a dozen of the screws that hold the keyboard in place if anyone has any?
