Doesn't look good - viruses tend to nobble NAV if they get a chance.

How about using System Restore? In theory that should put everything back to how it was at the last restore point, fix the registry etc.

I had a similar problem once (virus that stopped NAV running so couldn't use it to get to the virus) and called NAV helpline and they sorted me out.

Can't remember the solution, but it was all about disabling some stuff then loading NAV in safe mode, etc, etc.

Found the system restore disc, tried it, in then comes up with GHOST(random numbers) use diskette y or n, then symnatec (norton) cannot allow restore!

No, System Restore is a function somewhere your PC, not an external disk. TBH I can't remember how I found it, but you see a little calendar with restore points in it (usually created automatically whenever you change something significant). You click on the restore point you want to go back to, and bingo!
I've had a poke arund and can't find it now :-o
Can someone cleverer than me take over please
