Hi peeps. I have signed up with the pay-as-you-go ADSL access only thing is that i need to buy my own modem.
The location of the phone box (under the stairs) means that i can't have a modem connected to a PC.
So i thought that i would take a big step and upgrade to WiFi (as i have been using Cat5).
so i am now looking for a quick WiFi router with an ADSL modem built in and maybe even firewall...(the Firewall hardware is not so important though as i already have the software).

Are there any recomendations? I am thinking of spending up to £100 (and that includes a PCI or USB WiFi card for the PC upstairs).

Thanks

D3

I've got a Netgear DG834G and I wish I didn't! Don't buy if you use Bittorrent or other P2P software as it crashes when given any kind of load.

Well, conversely, I've had one for a few months here. Has worked pretty much flawlessly.

Admittedly, I don't use bittorrent or anything like that, but I do use a VPN day in day out with a fair bit of traffic going across it and out over a 1Mb ADSL line.

When I got it, I seem to remember I got it from dsl-warehouse.co.uk and got a discount on the two PCMCIA wlan cards I bought. Looks like they're giving one free with the router these days.

I've got the original DG824M with the lastest firmware - never had a problem crashing apart from the original firmware.

Make sure that your DG824G has the latest firmware.

I've got a Netgear DG834G and am Glad I did! Buy if you use Bittorrent or other P2P software as it works great when given any kind of load.

SO LONG AS YOU ARE USING THE LATEST FIREWARE PATCH FROM NETGEAR.
