I know that there will be a free and easy way of doing it, but if you use some NLE video software like Adobe Premiere 7, you could place the movie on a timeline, find the frame that you want as a still picture, and export as a JPG.

Adobe Premiere 6 and below will also do this, but you can't import *all* movie types into 6 and below (certainly not WMV files)

Pause the video then hit ALT+PrintScreen.

That should do it.

Or download a bit of software that does it.

The black print screen is because the media player or TV output does not go to the graphics card in the same way as normal its using a DirectX object. The output appears as an overlay to a specific colour, mine is pink so when I put a pink object over the TV player I can see the video running underneath. Great when using command line and wanting to watch TV!

Anyway, useless explanation over answer is you can't print screen without using a specific viewer that has a snapshot capability. I think snagit or anycapture might get it for you.

Alt PrtScn works for me with Adobe Photoshop 6.
just AltPrtScn, open Adobe, new and then paste, works fine, but needs a little tweaking to get teh image centred.

Kevin.
