First Camera Mount

Hi everyone!

It's been great reading through the forums and would like some advice.
I really enjoy driving trips and since I'm a PhD student I can be a bit flexible with my scheduling to allow for this to continue for a while.

I would like to start taking video footage of my trips and was thinking about starting with my iPhone 4.

Can you please recommend a camera mount that wil sit inside (side window, windscreen) as well as outside the car on the roof/bonnet? Is this one strong enough to sit in the wind at 70?

or should I get an adapter to give me a 1/4" mounting hole

and then get a different suction mount?
I'd like to try with my iPhone first to see if I can be bothered with all the editing before spending for a purpose built camera system like the gopro HD.

I remember somewhere hearing you can buy purpose built cameras for pretty cheap! (talking £80) I like the idea and may invest when I get the new car. I wouldn't fancy using an Iphone 4, they have HD video recording so I would expect the video files to be huge. And the battery wouldn't last too long!

I modified a £2 ASDA sat nav holder to hold my old Satio mobile phone, this was my first video using it...

I'd love one of the Go Pro cameras, they look fantastic, but in the mean time I'd never consider paying the prices you've linked to above, when I can have something exactly the same for a couple of quid. (All I did was removed the holder end, cut the arm in half and glued it back into the holder, so that it doesn't bounce about at all.)

I thought so - seems that there are companies everywhere charging over the odds for so-called 'niche' products......

I'll get my hot glue gun out and see what I can do with it

Slide/tilt passenger seat fully forward, pull up passenger headrest, turn iPhone on its side, push down headrest to grip - bobs your mother's brother, built in mount.
