Is there any way, hypothetically speaking obviously, of recording a live stream, such as, just off the top of my head, BBC Radio Player???

You should be able to do it with any recording software - Sound Forge, Wavelab etc etc.

One thing that took me a little while to suss out is that you have to select the source you want to record via the volume properties box.

Double click your volume icon in the bottom right.

In the Options menu choose properties.

Click the "recording" button and then OK.

You now have the inputs and their level control.

Tick the source you want to record and you should be able to record any sound using any recorder.

Hope this helps.
