Doubt many on here can help but it's worth a try! Anybody know the current discount rate for students on Macbooks (specifically the Air) at the moment? Not going to be able to log on to the uni network for a few weeks but was planning to go into the apple store sometime this week if the discount meant I could justify buying something I don't really need.

Alternatively, anyone work for Apple!?

Cheers!

These are the MBA prices on the online HE store, not sure they are so heavily discounted in store though.

Bit of a bargain IMHO.

My girlfriend has just used the discount and saved about £400 on an iMac (which is amazing by the way). It was really easy to do although if I remember correctly you need to do it asap because the discount only runs for a couple of months and I think it finishes soon (correct me if I'm wrong). Best way to do it is ring up because they are really helpful and we found they offered bigger discounts, not on the hardware but on Apple care, which I think cost £45, reduced from £260 or something.

Hi,

The rate of discount is dependant upon the product and your level of education.

For example you receive a bigger discount if you are doing a masters than you do if you are a undergraduate.

I got a Macbook pro last October and saved about £300 in total, got the apple care plan for free.

Do not do it online, always give them a phone call they are incredibly helpful and will give you a better price than the online price!

Also as far as I am aware you can get the discount at any point, I am not aware of their being a time limit.

Alternatively if you are dyslexic just go to your uni get the test and get a load of free mac gear!

You have to log in from your university campus or use the VPN so you are through their network.

Select you uni from the education store and you will get the discount that way.

Or show valid student ID in an Apple store.

Only on Apple branded products as well, not anything else.

You bloody idiot, Apple give you the discount as an incentive to get students to buy their gear. It's nothing to do with your broken britain crap. You should pay more tax, just for being an ignorant dick.

Thanks.

Britain is broken. But fair play to Apple. They're clever boys.

These students (who can afford iMacs at a slight discount) would be the ones who terrified my wife when they rioted in Central London because they have to pay loans back, on the basis that this means they can't afford to live. Right?

Probably not, those were in the minority but if it makes you feel any better I can say it was them soapbox

I bet half the lot causing the trouble weren't even students and just there to cause trouble.

Well, we agree on something at least.

All I am saying is that all we ever hear is that students live in poverty and are hammered by loans.

But they're queuing up to buy iMacs at a grand a time.

Thanks to everyone who answered my question; much appreciated! Exactly the stuff I was looking for! thumbup

JanesyB; I think Soovy was joking!? nuts

If it's any consolation, while the riots were raging I was hiding in an office near St Pauls trying to get myself a job for next year when I graduate. That's also how I'm paying for this, by working damn hard while my mates are all getting pissed on a beach somewhere! (Think I chose the wrong option when one phrases it like that hehe)

It's 16% for most uni's, although it can differ.

the discount is still offered in store.

If you wait until September, there may be a few more choices for you to make wink

Hope this helps

I doubt that, only the ones that work hard enough and have part time jobs can afford them or maybe even those that realise you don't have to start paying back a student loan until you earn over a certain amount biglaugh The poor scummers have poor people's computers and rightly so smash
