Found a little trick today that enables you to get free ADSL

Sign up. Log in. Don't turn off your ADSL Modem/router - ever. Cancel subscription.

Not perfect of course, but it had worked here for the last 3 months.

We're using a Zoom X3 modem that logged into BT ADSL 4 months ago. BT cancelled our ADSL line 3 months back when they couldn't take payment from a card that someone had stolen from me. Only found out that we had been cancelled when today was trying to ftp stuff up to the webspace and couldn't sign in.

Despite being cancelled, account deactivation only prevents you logging in. So if you are already logged in - and stay logged in - then you can continue to operate as normal

Poor show from BT howver - not a word from them in the last 3 months saying anything was wrong. No letter, phone call, nothing.

Just resigned with Bulldog. 1MB for the same price as BT's 512Kb (£29.95 per month).

Quite often, ISP's just disable access to DNS, so hardcode some other ISP's DNS server and robert's your father's brother!

Worked quite nicely with a mate and his cable modem..

I've had problems with an ISP at one of my old houses, when attempting re-connecting chap on phone said, if you hadn't reset your modem or router, you'd've been fine!
