At work we have a 42inch plasma screen that has spent too long displaying a basic windows screen and so has a faint bar and start button along the lower edge when other images shown.

Is there anything that can be done to repair it or minimise the viewing impact. Reason is that it will be surplus to requirements soon and i thought i might make an offer for it

Contemplating the effect it will have on the dvd and playstation

I think some plasmas have a feature that removes the burnt in image by displaying a series of bright backgrounds. Possibly a load of rubbish or maybe only on the very latest ones?

How long has it been going and how long have you had it showing a different image.

Plasmas have a memory effect that can last up to about 8 hours for bright images, displaying the in built white screen will fix that. Or just use it as normal till it goes away.

If it has actually burnt then you may have some success in making an inverse image and burning that in to mask the effect.

I wouldn't bother though, unless it is going to cost less than a couple of hundred quid to buy.

I think it is a couple of years old and has had the same display for 8 hours a day.

And yes i was thinking about putting in a silly low offer and mention that it was knackered, and see what happens.

Hoping to test it with a dvd next week to see how noticeable it is.
