install problem!!help me please.

Any ideas what i am doing wrong?

I am trying to install W2k on a new machine and all is going well till I reach the splash screen where the install hangs.
I've tried different ram, different hard disk, removing components to a bare CDROM and HD. Format HD as well.

MSI K7N2 Delta-L
256 2700 Crucial RAM
AMD 2500 Mobile
ATI 9500

Have you turned off boot sector virus protection in the BIOS. Unless you disable this, Windows cannot write to the boot sector and installation will fail.

Yes, boot sector virus protection is disabled.

Sounds like faulty memory or CPU or incompatable memory
Try using 2100 ram
also try running a memory test program, there's the one we use available from www.simmtester.com

Are you sure your motherboard supports the Athlon XP-M chip? It is not listed as being supported by this motherboard on the manufacturers site: www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=K7N2_Delta-L

Remember the XP-M is different to the XP

Additionally on the AMD site, www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/ProductInformation/0,,30_118_1276_807^6308,00.html#83698 , it says that chipsets supporting the XP-M are produced by ATI, SIS, ULI and VIA. It does not mention nVidia who make the chipset for this MSI motherboard.
