Hi,

I have received this error when trying to send an email this morning.

Does it mean that the recipients server is blocking all mail from blueyonder or that blueyonder is blocking mail being sent to it????

X-Supplementary-Info: smtp-out2.blueyonder.co.uk #5.5.0 smtp;553 sorry, your envelope sender is in my badmailfrom list (#5.7.1)

The Envelope sender address is what is used during the SMTP protocol when your email was delivered. This is very often your account email address, and might not match the address in your From: clause in your email.

For example, if your blueyonder logon is

12324324@blueyonder.co.uk

that could be listed as your envelope sender, even though your email address that you use is

joe.bloggs@blueyonder.co.uk

Don't know if this helps you or not really...

I would have said that the recipient has your email address blocked. Some places have started wholesale blocking of customers of dialup ISPs because of spam. Are you sending the email direct, or through Blueyonders mail server?

BTW, this page is helpful; www.greenend.org.uk/rjk/2000/05/21/smtp-replies.html

Thanks for the response,

The recipient is still able to receive emails from other blueyonder addresses... But its correct that my mail-id is some obscure logon and the reply address is a normal name@blueyonder.co.uk
