Following on from my Java/Tomcat nightmare I'm going to convert all of work's online shopping sites to PHP or ASP, but we've decided to change hosting companies because our current one communicates through message boards ( WTF?), and last time our sites were down for a couple of days and we didn't even know it! They had left a message on the board warning us our sites were down though

So I need reliable hosting and I need either the server or a technican to phone me up if there's a problem ASAP. Accurate webstats would be nice too. I don't need a deidicated server but I think the boss is wanting the sites done in ASP.

Anybody know of any good UK companies?

I was in the same position - it's just no good having downtime. It's one thing being down when it's your own fault, but damn annoying when it's not and you have to stand there "cap in hand" infront of customers apologising....

Are you talking about hosting your own servers?

If so, I'd highly recommend www.carrenza.com I've not had 1 second of downtime since being with them and the throughput is amazing.

They are excellent at what they do and very flexible to specific needs. Certainly worth a phone call.

Cheers,

JC

Thanks, I'll take a look, although to be honest I don't think the size of our operation warrants dedicated servers just yet.

I'd recommend www.xsession.com Its a company run by one of the contractors that I work with. They are in the process of installing brand new servers running on Server 2003 etc.

I can get you the email address of a technical person he works with if you want any information that you can't find on the website.

Lol, there is no dot between initial and surname. I've removed it, but PH isn't updating!

Thanks, got the mail - I'll take it to them and see what they say - although I don't think we're ready for a dedicated server just yet. Just some space.

Thanks for the info, and that's a nice list of clients you have there
