I have a Sony Z600TEK laptop that I'm looking to get shot of (to provide funds for a PowerBook to replace it). Thing is, I can't see any for sale on eBay, so I'm a bit stuck for what to ask for it.

Brief specs are Pentium III 700MHz, 256Mb RAM, 20Gb disc, with CD-ROM, Floppy, port expander and I'd probably throw in an 802.11b card too.

Longer specs are here

I don't know what its competitors at the time were, so I don't know what to search for by way of comparison. I do well remember that it cost me £2000-odd brand new!

Suggestions?

Well, I recently bought a PII 400mhz 10gb for £120. So I wouldn't expect much more than £400 if your lucky.

of yes they do

I think more like £300; £400 too close to opening prices for new

I have the same laptop sat on the shelf and was wondering the same thing. How long does the battery last on yours?

I think it'll go to around two hours if you take care with the power saving settings. However, I've not used it in laptop mode for a long time now.

That said, it's still a bloody good laptop: I run a pile of stuff on it, and it doesn't feel like something that's a whole GHz off what your average laptop offers these days.

I think the gap between what we're told is obsolete versus what's really obsolete is ever-widening.

Yep about £300 to £400 and stick it on eBay for a good price. Might even get £450 if you are lucky, but its still not bad..

I would stick it up for £550 ono and follow the PC trading rule:

Buy on ebay cheap, sell in Loot (free) Works for me
