So does anybody else have consistent problems with Sky+ killing their DSL circuits?

The only device in the house that causes issues is the v2 Sky+ box (stunning in all other ways) - we have a DECt phone system, and anormal Sky digibox that all work perfectly. But if I connect the Sky+ to the phone line it regularly kills the DSL circuit for 20mins at a time every few days.

Being a techie I've checked the circuit losses etc, swapped microfilters all over the place but to no avail.

It's got so bad I'm actually considering phoning Sky+ support - but need to book out 4 hours for the call if it's as long as before (when one of our boxes went bang).

Anybody have any thoughts before I have to submit to Sky's "help"?

Arse!,

Fortunately I have 2 phone lines in my house. However, when I've plugged a v90 modem into the same line as my DSL it does screw the DSL line over until the modem is disconnected.

I'd like to add that the modem was plugged into the DSL line via a microfilter. I've not tried it without since I very rarely use the v90 (only certain spassy ISP's that won't allow you to ftp to their ftp server via a different ISP).

I can only assume there is a issue with running DSL and v90 together.

I'd be inclined to talk to your DSL ISP or a teleco. engineer. Since I'm pretty sure this is NOT a SKY+ issue (other than the fact that the digibox uses a v90 modem)

Hope this helps

Steve,

Thanks for that but the other DigiBox is plugged in with it's modem fine and causes no problems at all.

The v1 Sky+ box we used to have (before the bang) was connected and never caused any problems.

we also have two work laptops that sometimes (when WiFi or 3G is dodgy) resort to modems and never have any issues.

I've got a few techie friends @ Pace STB design and will ask them as well - will see what I get back as it's only the Pace box that causes this...

Cheers

Ian
