well.. once you get used to it wouldnt it be awful to go back to dial up? So... just found out that the house we're hoping to move into doesnt offer bband. According to eclipse's www.wewantbroadband.co.uk/ pre-registrations have now ended. Bummer. Checking www.wewantbroadband.co.uk/pdfs/ADSL_rollout.pdf
for the next wave of exchanges to be upgraded, sadly Stoke Row aint there.

Any one got a magic wand I can borrow? My god it's going to be painful. Anyone had a success with satellite?

how about the cable operators (NTL)? Do they not service the area? If they do you may find that you can gt a cable connection to the net, rather than an ADSL one.

Stoke Row - just outside Henley? Very nice! Looked around there (down by the Maharajah's well) but ended up in Thame.

As for alternatives to ADSL, you could look into Cable, Satellite, or Wireless - Satellite being about the only one universally available across the country.

Asked around at work.. a pal mentioned wireless 3G that run around 384bps. He's running that near Aylesbury.. through Vodafone. £50 bit more dosh but worth an investiagte.

Yup, that's the place around 6 miles from Henley OT. Prices bit steep for us but like the area

Yes, odd that. Do you think they're just going to rake in the extra money, then deal with/ignore any problems later?
