Okay, so as my current PC wont play Doom3 I'm thinking of buying a new PC, but I dont have the cash free at the moment ... anyone know of anyone reputable doing interest free credit or buy-now-pay-later deals at the moment ?

(the other alternative is to build my own to try and save a bit of cash (some bits and bobs I've already got, e.g. decent HDD, decent speaker system etc) but I've never built a PC before, so I'm not sure about that)

Cheers
Nev

Get a Barclaycard, they're offering 0% until Aug 2005 on purchases and balance transfers, subject to a maximum of £5000.

This will also mean you could potentially buy a better spec PC with your money. The cost of BNPL and Interest Free are 'hidden' in the cost of the item you're buying.

Dell now do a gaming machine for around £1200. Don't think it includes monitor etc.

Aria have a good reputation;

But building your own is pretty straightforward and very rewarding. I've built my own for the last 8-10 years.

BTW nice car. A friend of mine has a beautiful clean late 328. I've still to drive it!!

I guess the biggest problem I've got is figuring out what works with what ... for example, I've been looking at the Asus K8N-E motherboard which supports SATA drives, but I've already got a spare 160gig IDE drive which I'd like to use in the short term (to save a bit of cost) but I can't figure out if the Asus would support it or not ?!? {sigh}

And thanks for the compliment

www.scan.co.uk do 10 months interest free credit, and are cheap as chips in the first place. I'm seriously tempted...

You could consider one of the Shuttle small form factor PCs. I put one together for my sister and it is really good. If you get one like the SN41G2V2 it even comes with tolerable on-board graphics (geforce 4mx);

All you need to add is a processor, RAM, CD/DVD writer, your HDD and a floppy if you must. You can then get a better graphics card when funds allow.

Thanks for the thoughts all. I like the idea of the 0% credit card, and the stuff on scan.co.uk looks rather interesting too, worth a perusal
