Can anyone recommend a comfortable mouse.

I have been using a mouse a lot more recently at work and have also been getting back into The Sims on the PC which uses the mouse almost exclisively and have noticed that my hand is starting to ache a little at the end of the day.

I run a laptop (plug in mouse) at work and a normal PC at home and notice that the connections are different does this mean if I want to use just one style of mouse that I will have to buy two or is there an adaptor that you can get.

Thanks for you help

Paul

PS god knows what it will be like when The Sims 2 comes out

I gave up using a mouse ages ago. I find a trackball is much more comfortable. There is no need to move your wrists, just your thumb, and it is much more comfortable.

I use a Logitech TrackMan Marble.

I tried this route once and found that my thumb got very sore!

The biggest difference I find is simply to use a wrist support when using the PC.

Get a gel wrist support. My MS Wireless Intellimouse Explorer is the most comfortable I've used.

I knackerd my wrist playing golf one day, and working in IT using a mouse all way was pretty painfull.

this is the one I now use:

Takes a bit of getting used to, but requires almost no movement of the wrist making it very good to use. Also can assign buttons to close application, got forward, backwards, scroll up etc..

I hadnt considered a trackerball, are they tricky to get the hang of?

Might try and find a cheap one on E-bay to have a play with.

It does take getting used to! I won't deny that.

This is very good however, you move it around with your middle and 4th finger. Click the scroll buttons with your index, and 'left click' with your thumb.

You can get different types from Logitech, but this one is the most popular.

does anyone know if tracker balls are better at preventing RSI than a conventional mouse

I have used trackballs for several years in preference to mice. I find them much more comfortable, no RSI and you dont's have any problems with reaching the edge of the mousemat.

I have heard several people say that switching to trackballs has reduced or eliminated their RSI problems.

I am currently using the MS Trackball Explorer 1.0 which took a few days to get used to but now I love it.

Cotty: you're playing The Sims!? Get out there and KILL something. Get Doom III or Far Cry.

The Sims is nice and relaxing to play. If I want to blow the cr@p out of something then ill stick on Grand Theft Auto Vice City or Silent Scope on the PS2 I have all bases coverd

I also have Time Crisis with the gun for the PS2 I here that on Time Crisis 2 you can use two guns how cool is that

Sorry to be slow to respond. It is still available, here is the link: www.microsoft.com/uk/mouseandkeyboard/productlist.aspx?type=Trackball

It is the top one of the two pictured.
