I'm looking for a minimalist Alu case, either twer or mini-tower, and can't seem to find anything suitable. I've got a budget of around £100 excluding PSU. I've looked at Coolermaster, but nothing in their current range is plain enough. If i could have something that looked like a solid billet with just a power button/light and an HDD light, PERFECT! Know of any?

This is what I mean:

I'm not yet approved to post on OCUK (where I got these pics from) so can't ask the guy what it is. It's not on Coolermaster's website. I suspect it's an older model, as there is a similar style currently, but the top half is all uncovered drive bays, rather than this one, which I presume has a front panel to hide the bays.

It's a Coolermaster 110, I don't think they do it anymore, when it was in production it was ~£250+VAT.

Ouch!

Might have to keep looking then. The WaveMaster is growing on me. I wonder how easy it would be to polish out the logo?

I've got a Lian-Li case which I'm very pleased with.

Have a look at the Lian-Li cases at www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/Kustom_PCs_Shop_Aluminium_ATX_Cases_1.html

I have one of the Lian Li PC-71 cases www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_1018.html

Fecking enormous but nice Matt black finish.

If you do get a Lian-Li get it from Overclockers as its cheaper than Kustompcs in Scotland.

Yet another vote for a Lian-Li here. I've got an earlier incarnation of the PC 60:-

Well under budget, close to the "aluminium billet" you asked for, and top quality. No sharp edges anywhere and held together with thumbscrews (both side panels, PSU, mobo tray, HDD carriage).

I'd go with Coolermaster, I have a Coolermaster CM200 and the quality is much better than any Lian Li case imho.

Muncher,

Some of the recent CM cases are nothing short of sh1te, mate, although I agree some of the vintage ones are lovely. CM have really dropped the ball in recent years IMHO...

Try www.aria.co.uk for cases too... but for variety, x-case is pretty good (not necessarily on prices though)

I've not really kept in touch since I bought my CM200, the CM210,201,200,110,101 are absolutely superb.

I have a Lian-Li PC75 and it's a fantastic case both in terms of features and build quality. It's huge, but just what I needed for my watercooling rig.

However, you may be more interested in some of the later Lian-Li designs, which are closer to the "billet" style you're looking for. You would go slightly over budget at £110-160, but hey - quality costs money .

Check this page out:-
www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Lian_Li_Cases.html

From your requirements, I guess you would be looking at the V1100/V2100, PC6070 or PC-73SL.

Hope this helps
