dodgy internet connection - adsl
Discussion
have my connection through bulldog/bt 50k service
every now and then my connection cuts off, which I suppose I can deal with, but to re-connect I have to go into my zoom adsl usb modem page to re-enter username etc, which after I lose my connection doesnt come up ( ip- 10.0.0.2 ) ,it only works after I re-boot
any ideas how to refresh ie so I can connect again, eek, what an explanation, hope someone out there understands wot I'm on about
cheers

Are you not managing to save the username and password settings on the modem/router? You have to click "Save Changes", then "Write Settings to Flash and Reboot", then a new page comes up on which you have to click "Confirm". There's a "reconnect automatically" check box in there somewhere as well which should be checked.
You might find it less fraught to get a cheap network card and connect to the modem/router via ethernet rather than USB.
Problems at the computer end I can't help with if you're using a so-called OS that requires you to reboot to fix problems

Let me guess, you're using an older VIA chipset motherboard?
This could be the power problem, older VIA chipsets refused to serve enough power to the device, so frequently the USB peripheral would die and only work after a reboot. Opti chipset PCI USB cards fixed the problem.
Failing that, ditch the modem and get an all-singing and dancing Wireless router with modem (Linksys make a great one)
