Just a heads up for anyone thinking of getting one or looking for Christmas ideas...reduced to just £99 at the moment as a Black Friday Deal...

I have just picked one up for my Mum and Dad - makes a great present for the price!

No it isn't...

1) Both are £99 - so the exact same price.
2) Currys website is now down.

Give me Amazon please smile

I'd rather pay the 99p for peace of mind - Currys are totally useless if anything goes wrong smile
Fair enough but it's £10.99.

I know loads of people that paid £129 for it and love it - for £99 it is a steal biggrin

Is the HD worth the extra £60? (Currently £159 vs. the £99 for the non-HD)
HD has higher res screen [1200x800] and 16Gb memory, compared to [1024x600] and 8Gb on the non-HD

It totally depends on your idea of 'worth'.

I have played on both and the screen is better on the HD...although you would not look at the Fire screen and think it was bad. It is still a very good screen.

If you think you will need the extra memory though - you might as well go for the HD - if 8GB is more than enough...I would get the Fire for £99. smile

Any tips

Ok, I've a big ripped-DVD collection. (i.e. I bought the DVD and then ripped it to mp4 so I can watch it via lots of devices at home.)

Can I get the mp4's onto the Kindle to watch on a plane for example?

I'd definitely spend the extra £30 and get this - no brainer.

I've got an iPad from work but I was going to get an iPad mini for myself for the train - I've just picked this up instead. Looking forward to getting it, cheers OP.
