Hi all long time lurker first time poster.

After some advice and help.

Not sure if I can mention company names but I'm sure you guys know who I am reffering to.

I handed my phone to fort Yoda store in Birmingham for repairs as it was echoing when on calls and it was charging whilst there was no charger plugged it keeps saying mtp scanning.

It is still in warranty so I asked them to repair it, few days later was told water damage and it will cost £100.
I asked what has been damage to which they replied " charger USB packet" I asked what that part does was tild it charges the phone I advised it is charging fine they ten said it is the reason why calls are echoing, was sent a picture of just a random part I don't have a clue what part it is and I asked for a breakdown of the charge was tild they do not have it and if I want it repairing I have to pay if as the warranty is now voided due to water damage I asked how they know it is water or liquid damage they advised "we know".

I wrote to CEO and their stance was they will not repair and that is it.
I wrote back advising I will cancel contract stop DD as under SOGA they have to resolve issue not Damsung.

I have read many forums were people have similar issues and the price to repair is always £100 and water damage.

Is there any thing I can do it any help you can offer or advice

Thanks

I've heard of this quite a lot. On the s2, the usb port is open to the elements, so you only need to use it in the rain, or perhaps leave it in the bathroom, and as soon as a small amount of water gets in they've got the right to refuse to honor the warranty. I've heard of several people writing to the CEO and being successful but I'm not sure if they're legally obliged to help you. When you open these phones up it's actually quite easy to disguise the signs of water damage by cleaning with alcohol and a small toothbrush, so the water indicators are there to stop people buying broken phones, cleaning them up and sending them into samsung - there's no easy way to replace the water sensors.

There you go. I assume the water damage they're referring to is the rust and slight liquid stains on the connector? Although it's definitely minor and I totally agree that it would have nothing to do with the issue you're referring to, I'm not sure there's actually very much you can do as there is definite evidence of liquid ingress. I'm sure someone more legally knowledgeable than me will be able to tell you for sure.

apple did this to me with a 4, battery is awful and the speaker is really quiet. speaker was like that since i got it but never bothered to go in until the battery got st.
i was told it was water damage because the little water marker in the charger port was slightly pink, despite no other evidence of water damage

Mine had the same symptoms. After being ripped off for the £100, I wrote to the CEO office, and got a generic response. After trying to "meet them half way" they ignored the emails.

When the contract runs out, i'll go elsewhere. Their £400 loss next year)

I'm guessing I would have to open the phone my self as many others have said they were sent pictures of previous damaged phones deliberately.

Ohwell looks like a standard scam or a usual response from them to wriggle their way out of it.

I'm not giving up though!

I would highly advise against opening the phone, as in doing so you give them a cast iron reason to refuse to honor the warranty. As cynical as I usually am about such things, I doubt they're trying to scam you by sending a picture of a different phone. In reality, most phones, especially when they've been around for as long as the s2 have similar "damage".
Best of luck with it, but I really can't see this going anywhere.

I have home contents Insurance but for £300 not worth it.
Just collected my phone back now it's More damaged than before.
The advisor was extremely rude and embarrassed me in front of customers.
Another customer had the same phone and she was told the same thing.

I called the CEO office and advised them of this and they now will replace the handset free of charge no questions asked!!

Obviously they know it's a known problem and so do Damsung who advise they will replace it to.
So result
