I'm looking for an external hard-drive for a mac laptop for xmas (need a very quick reply for delivery in time for xmas hence posting in the wrong section, i apologise...)
Reviews are very mixed on Amazon and i have no idea how a mac works. I just want a simple external hard drive that is wireless and can store large volumes of data on it, architecture related so lots of drawings and so on through photoshop / vectorworks etc etc
What should i type in google / amazon / ebay and what memory capacity should i expect from £100-200???

Pretty much any usb HDD will work with a Mac, you will just need to format it for mac. However there are ones marked "for mac" which are pre formatted for you.
Consider if you want a "portable" one or a "desktop" one. The difference being size and how its powered. The "desktop" ones are much bigger and usually require you to plug in a power supply, the "portable" ones are usually powered by usb and much smaller.

The OP wants a wireless drive. Look on Amazon for the Western Digital My Book Live Cloud NAS drives. 3TB for £130.Consider if you want a "portable" one or a "desktop" one.
