Discussion
Hi folks
I would be most gratefull if you could tell me what this error (look below) means and how I can sort it out. It is an intermittant fault that stops me using my email. I can still use the internet whilst this fault occurs.
Thanks steelnads
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop.freeserve.com', Server: 'pop.freeserve.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

have a read of that and look for the error numbers in the text.

Freeserve's mail server is probably down or unreachable. When you can't get on, launch a dos box and type
telnet pop3.freeserve.com 110
you should get a message something like
+ok connected on 3211
then type quit
I bet you don't get a reply, which basically means you can't get to the mail server. Don't worry if you can't, but it means the problem isn't with your outlook.
