Any quickly tell me how to number pages in a report, the professional way?

I'm wanting to number the first couple of pages in roman numerals i, ii, iii, iv etc, then from the introduction page, start again with 1,2,3 etc.

Everything I try just renumbers everything one way or the other. The paperclip assistant is once again as useless as....

TIA

Yep, done that - but can't get it to work. I want the first 11 pages to be i-xi, then the twelvth page to be 1 onwards etc. Whatever I do with insert-page-format gets applied right across the whole doc. Its driving me mad!

You need to break the document into sections: (Insert break - > section break) You can then number each section indivdually, as well as set different header/footer formats ect. You will need to specify in the page numbering setup for the second section that the numbering does not continue from the previous section.

Goto the split point
Insert -> Break... -> section from next page.
Go to first page, position where you want page, then insert -> Page number -> format then choose i,ii,...
now goto the area where you want the different numbering to start
insert -> Page number -> format then choose 1,2,3 and click the start at radio button and select 1
