Hope you can help, Not been on this forum before but as there seems to be loads of I T bods on P H so here goes.I have (am in the process of) changed from BT to NTL for my 2 phone lines and want to keep checking my old email address for messages, my wife works from home and its important that we are able to access the old e mail address. Its been a poor service from NTL so far cos we wanted the phone No`s from BT changed over for the same reasons but that was messed up.we have a domain name that I understand that will mean that we will not need to change Email address in future if we change ISP again. So can I dial up BT and check my old email address from or via an NTL account.
Sorry if this is stupid question.

You should be able to collect them fine. I collect my BT emails via my Nildram connection.

At the very least you could access them by webmail.

You will be able to check your BT email whilst dialled in through NTL account.

I check all sorts of email by just dialling in to my regualar ISP.

Sounds like BT's ok, but I seem to remember that a few of the dial-up ISPs wouldn't let you deal with your mail unless you were dialled-in from one of their lines (as that's how they made their money) - but as you say, webmail is always there if you can't do it any other way.

I could collect my freeserve emails but I couldn't send anything via their SMTP server - I guess to stop relaying.

But I can't access my freeserve FTP unless I dial in with them.
