My computer got completely screwed up so a freind re-installed windows for me.
All is fine except when you scroll down the page it does not do it smoothly. It seems like it is "refreshing" the screen as it moves. It used to be ok so can't be the hardware, must be a setting some where, any ideas ?

Sounds like incorrect Graphics card drivers. That would definatly cause jerky/slow screen refreshes.

Edit: are you comfortable enough to open up your computer and pluck out the graphics card, that way you would be able to jot down the make/model of it and we could assist your from there.

Right click the desktop, select properties, and click the "advanced" tab.

Find the "troubleshoot" section and check that hardware acceleration is on "full".

Failing this, check that your graphics drivers are installed correctly by looking in device manager (system properties).

Hope this helps.

Or change the acceleration to "none", and see if that makes a difference.

Thank you to every one who gave me advice.
I set the hardware acceleration to "none" and the graphics seem to be perfect now.

Then you have a driver problem.

What's now happening is that the CPU is doing the work that the graphics card should be doing.

If you are happy then leave it, otherwise, the latest graphics drivers should see you right.
