I've just installed Office 2003 SP1 on all of the PCs in the house with no problems (replacing non SP1 version), except for my sister's PC where all of the toolbars appear in the "old" grey colour rather than blue like on all the other PCs.

This was on a clean install, just like the other PCs, I've even tried re-installing it and also can't find any option mentioning toolbar colour.

Can anyone help, it's causing me no end of grief

Toolbar colour is read from your Windows colour settings.

If its not the right colour its not being rendered properly and there is a fault somewhere.

It's not the top bar, it's the one beneath it with the icons etc on.

As Plotless said, this is being read from your Windows colour settings, so I think that they must have been changed in some way, possibly to optimise performance at some point, or to apply a different theme?

Have you tried setting the Windows theme back to Windows classic, then restoring the default XP theme?
If that hasn't worked, I'd take a peek at system properties, advanced tab, performance, & set everything there to "best appearance". Hopefully that should do the trick.
