Hi Guys

I was wondering if anyone wanted to give me some feedback on an app I made for myself on Android and then published on Google Play for others. The link is below

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com....

Any feedback on the UI or anything else for that matter would be greatly appreciated as I want to continue improving this app

Cheers
David

It's a nice app. Being left handed I found I kept changing the order of the news providers though. Maybe a button at the top to allow reordering rather than have it all on? The Sky news website didn't format brilliantly but it was still readable.

If you use the little armchair icon it formats the article much better. I am looking to make this the default view but although this looks simple I would need to move that processing off the device to a server.

I know the re-ordering needs to be made more consistent and hidden away when not required, so thanks for confirming the requirememnt

Daft question, but how do I find it in Google Play on my phone?

I like news things so would probably like this but I can't find it!

Great question, as it's pretty new and there are lots of similar but inferior apps it's down the list a bit, I would search for "UK News" and scroll down quite a bit..

+1's and Positive Reviews will help it ascend that search criteria though smile

I couldn't find it, but found your website & unfortunately my "device isn't compatible with this version" - sorry!

Let me know when you have a version for me - I've got a Galaxy Ace 2 & seem to be stuck with the Daily Mail Online at the moment & I'm getting more outraged by the day.

Large gap at the top of the screen on my Nexus 10...

What should be there? I have an adblocker if that helps...

I wanted to use the new standard holo UI in Android 4.x as this means that the app scales properly on all size screens including tablets. Unfortunately this is not available on devices running Android 2.x and below.

Sorry and hope to see you when you upgrade smile

OK as a user of Ad Blockers before developing I thought they were great, however now I am doing some Free Apps they basically rob me of any re-numeration for that work.

Can you turn the ad blocker off to see if it work after that?

You could get the pro version with no ads!

The App is downloading images on the first load and preparing the app for use so it's always expected to take a little time to load, especially depending on the data connection.

What device do you have and were you on Wi-Fi or Cellular Data?

If you do have any more feedback after a longer test period then that would be good, all feedback welcome..

I like the app a lot and will definitely use it - Two comments

1 - The logo is pretty gross, probably just me but the combination of the layout and the colour doesn't give it a 21st Century "feel".

2 - Rather than descriptions of what the newspapers are about - Can you perhaps scrape their headlines (probably a bit much to load each time but could be a background job every 4 hours) or even have the option to have nothing??

Thanks for your positive comments

We have had similar feedback on the icon before, our plan is to change it and remove the splash screen altogether.

I am not quite sure I fully understand how you suggest it could work. Are you saying that the first screen that loads has all the news articles loaded from all the newspapers?

Cheers David

Perhaps just the main news headline from each paper

EG: The Sun - MAN FLIES TO MARS IN 2CV

I get you know, a sneak peek at the latest article(s).

I am having a review very soon on the UI so will bear that in mind. I am also think of removing either the list view of articles in favour of just the swipe through screen as they pretty much do the same job.

My main aim is to make it so you do not need to view the actual website and display everything in the EasyView mode (accessed via armchair icon).
