I have a system I need to set up on a LAN with SP2 preinstaled and I can't remove it - subsequently I can't bridge connections for the betwork.

This happened to my own laptop when I downloaded SP2 myself, however i was able to remove it, which I can on this new PC.

Help Please !

Surely there must be a quick fix ?

Cheers

I assume you've turned the firewall off? I didn't realise SP2 explicitly prevented bridging?

it conects with the default firewall on and can send like 4 packets and recieve none - then i disabled the connection, turned the firewall off and tired to bridge connections again - but to no avail.

Cheers anyway !

SP2 turns of file and print sharing as a default... see the MS TechNet for details.

IIRC it's port 445 you need to enable.. should be able to do that via the GUI, or try the following at a command prompt...

netsh firewall set portopening tcp 445 smb enable

Is that persistent Podie or is it lost at next reboot?
