DivX subtitles

has anyone, um, downloaded a DivX movie with an associated subtitle file? If so, what I do?

(using DivX player 2.5.5)

edited to report.. the subtitles are in a .srt file, which seems just a text file with particular formatting

sussed it.. bow down to the power of Gates & use media player, with an extra utility installed.
