converting cda files to mp3

Bro's just got a P910. Won't let him rip tracks from cds (cda) format to his P910. Has to be in mp3, wav etc. What should I use to convert?

Windows Media Player, dBPoweramp (www.dbpoweramp.com) to name but two.

I also just got a P910 - a huge improvement on the P800, although the sync software is still rubbish.
