Hey all,

I've been fiddling and learning from scratch how to make a website and have knocked something which, so far, I'm proud of. However, I'd like some objective opinions on how it could be improved or made to work/look better.

The website is www.neilbolton.co.uk

The main thing I'm finding is whether layers or table work best, I can't get table to do what I want, so I used layers to get the 'free form' editing in Dreamweaver MX that I'm using.

What am I doing wrong - or am I completely missing the point?

Your webber looks ok to me. Some of the content in the center does seem to jump around a bit moving from center alignment to top aligned etc.

I'm not totally sure what the layers are doing but prob not alot as most of the formatting is done within a DIV tag.

If you wanted to use a table then you'd have tables within tables. So your outer table would contain 2 rows and then 3 cols I think. Then the top TR would be colspan=3 and then onto the content is each column(3 cols) below. Then within the TD's you could define another table etc.

That prob doesn't make alot of sense...

It looks OK to me. However, I'd be tempted to reduce the amount of personal information on there. I may be paranoid, but giving your phone number and address on a web site probably not the best idea - there are a lot of nutters out there!

It looks good, but it's a little wide - even for a 1024x768 display. A lot of the text disappears off the right hand side of the screen. I would personally drop the size of the nav buttons down a little, and drop the text size down. Otherwise looks good!
