Does anyone know a good free backup tool for XP home? I will preferably be backing up over LAN to a HDD on a different machine.

I can get Veritas Backup Exec for nothing, but downloading 475Mb over a 300k connection is SLOW and overkill!

Thanks Trevor, but it doesn't appear to have a system for open files or system state backups!

I didn't realise they'd dropped ntbackup.exe from XP Home. Are you sure they have? i.e try running ntbackup from the run prompt.

edited to add: rumour has it you can find ntbackup on the XP home cd VALUEADDMSFTNTBACKUP directory. Never used home myself so I've never tried to install it.

Wooohooo!

Managed to install BE 9.1 and it's backing up the laptop from the desktop!
