I have set up one of my NTL email accounts just for my mobile. I have put in all settings as required but cant seem to get it to work. I am connecting via Vodafone GPRS and was wondering if thats the problem?

Cheers

I use pop3 on my p800 on GPRS without issue.

If you can, try connection to pop3 elsewhere, see if that works.

Helps rule out NTL.

Well i can access the account via Outlook Express and through NTL webmail. I tried to access my accounts via phone GPRS and i kept getting a refused signin/password back. just tried to access my Yahoo account through the phone and i got a message telling me my browser doesnt accept cookies so i'm now assuming my phone doesnt use cookies?

My P900 works fine with Orange/NTL.

What problems are you having: sending or receiving e-mail?

If it's sending, it's almost certainly down to NTL not allow mail relaying from IP addresses that aren't their own. Your IP address will belong to Vodaphone I imagine. To get around that my mail is sent via Orange's SMTP server rather than NTL's - you'll have to do the same via a Vodaphone SMTP server (assuming they offer one). There's some stuff on the Vodaphone website that may help here.

If you're having trouble picking up e-mail, make sure your setup is correct. The POP3 server for ntl is pop.ntlworld.com and you login with your e-mail address and password.

Just experimented with my POP settings and I actually need just my username to connect, not my e-mail address (i.e. my.name instead of my.name@ntlworld.com)

My P900 works fine with POP3...

Make sure you know the right username password for authentication and that the SMTP/POP3 server are willing to accept communications from any IP address.

All password, username, pop and smtp settings ok.
Strange thing is i cant access it via NTL webmail either (using phone) or my Yahoo account! Yahoo keeps telling me my browser doesnt accept cookies yet it is checked in the phone settings
As far as the webmail is concerned i may try the Opera browser to see what happens.

But why cant i send and recieve email via my message box?
