I know the owner of this company is on here (Spie) but has anyone ordered from them / are they decent enough?

I don't know anyone up here who has ordered from them you see and like to know someone has had good service from a company before I order.

Email me off here if you'd prefer.

thanks

Fish bought all of his new kit from them a few weeks ago now, with no problems whatsoever.

I must say I haven't heard about any problems.

They are used regularly by Mr C_G and he rates them. They have sent us the wrong bits (twice!), but sorted out the problem immediately, dispatching the correct item together with a reply paid envelope to return the wrong bit.

So from our point of view.

I've had a few problems with them, they weren't too helpful about sorting them either. Just check how much postage they charge before you decide they're cheaper than the rest.

The thing that is worrying me is that I can't get hold of them on the phone - it just rings permentaly.

I called on there in person once (Stoke on Trent). I bought a load of gear from them, but the sales guy was obviously confused with my order. Consequently I went away with >£100 of stuff I didn't get charged for...so I can't complain. On the whole, they offer good service but concentrate more on the high end/enthusiast part segment of the self build market.

Another good place to try is www.microdirect.co.uk , and www.scan.co.uk.

Yeah Mark (spie) likes them to give email priority, apparently they promise a 4 hour mail response.

Not the cheapest, but their prices are certainly competitive and you can't go wrong with most of their range. Very little in the way of Korean cheapo stuff.

I've used them for quite a bit of kit; the only problem I've ever had was when they didn't send a power supply lead with a system I'd bought for a client. Sent an email telling them, they said we'll send one out, never arrived, said they'll send another, that never arrived ... gave up in the end.

Be aware of the postage costs - if you're buying a bit of kit, £10ish is acceptable. I recently bought a Logitech ~Driving Force wheel, but the delivery costs meant it was cheaper elsewhere.

Put it this way though: OcUK are the first website I go to when I need new kit, for me or for resale.

And the forums are very entertaining

I'll third that particular issue with OCUK. Other than that, first class service.

actually, just found their forums - didn't know they were there and now constantly changing what I want to buy.

This is getting daft! I can't seem to find a definite answer to what I need to know and I can't search as I'm not registered. Sigh.

I visit their site every so often, escpecially for more techy / geeky kit, but I have to say that the likes of Novatech and Insight are invariably cheaper like-for-like.

I use them for all my stuff. Fantastic outfit

Seriously, like any high-volume operation, we don't get it right every single time. Getting good staff is a constant problem, and sometimes that means delays when phoning.

However most of the time we do get it right and that is reflected on our substantial year-on-year growth. If anyone has any issues that I can help with just mail me at spie@overclockers.co.uk and I'll do everything I can to help

I needed a order in a hurry, ordered all the parts for a PC. Monitor was dead on arrival, sent it back and got a refund no problem but they said i had to send it back parcelforce 48hour with insurance which cost me £25. Added to the fact they wern't the cheapest anyway and i might aswell gone to PC World to be honest. Wasn't overly impressed.

Cheers,
Rob.

Manufacturers make faulty products, not suppliers. Could of happened to you from any source. You were just unlucky.

Some of this dirty laundry should be aired in private, not in public.

I fear this thread is sailing very close to the wind with regards to PistonHeads' "Name & Shame" policy.
