Hi Guys,

Have we got any bluetooth experts amongst us?

I've upgraded my mobile today to a Nokia 6230 and i'm trying to get it to work with my ipaq 2210.

If i use the phone's wizard to pair it with the ipaq, It searches for devices and finds the ipaq, but when I input an encyrption code into the phone and the ipaq, I get an error message on the phone saying

"Pairing and conn. rejected due to security reasons"

It's exactly the same if i do it from the ipaq too.

I've searched the manuals of both devices and can't find any mention of the concern or the error message.

The phone is visible to all and and both bluetooth devices are on.

The ipaq DOES show my mobile in the paired devices folder but the phone says empty.

It's starting to get on my pip now.

When you pair devices, you have to enter a code on each device. So when it prompts you for a code on the ipaq enter something like 1234, then enter 1234 on the phone when prompted.

Thanks for the reply m8

I've found out a couple of things during the evening.

unless you've changed the access code to the phone, the default and ONLY number the phone will accept during the pairing is 0000, and not as the manaul would have you think it being a user deffined number.

Also, hp have released a security update patch for the issue too.

So, with both items addressed, it paired straight away and allowed file transfers to the ipaq via bluetooth.

I can't get the iPAQ onto the net yet though because i'm still waiting for 02 to sort the number transfer from orange. i'll be expecting similar issues when trying to input the connection details

No problem, drop me a mail if you get stuck. Setting up dial-up on PocketPC can be a bit fiddly

Thanks for the offer of help m8, I got a bit curious about it all and found an excellent "how to" on totalpda's forums setting up the same combo as mine on the same network.

I followed step for step and have no surfed the www on the ipaq and even used MSN connected via the bluetooth and gprs on the phone.

I'm a happy bunny now. shopping trips with the better half are going to be sooooooooooo much more enjoyable now
