How to stop login question but retain password?

in windows 98, upon loading the o/s it always asks for your username + password, but as i have neither, how can i stop it constantly asking me for something i dont need, have, or want?

upon logining in to go online via my IE web-browser+ISP, i'm asked for my password, an so type it it. But when i login again the next time, i have to type my password in again, even though it still retained my username from last time, so how can i make it retain my ISP login password as well as my ISP username?

IIRC, you have to have Client for Microsoft Networks installed in order for Win 98 to remember your internet password. You dont have to use it, just have it installed.
I don't have a 98 box to hand, but go to the properties for the connection you are using and in the 'Networking' (?) tab check that the client is install. If it isn't, then install it. (Click 'Add' or 'Install', can't remember which, and follow the prompts.)
