Any ACT! Specialists out there?

I am having a problem with ACT that I need an opinion on...

I "maintain" it here at work although I'm no expert. Whats the question?

I've just set up 'er indoors with a brand new ACT system.

I have one weekends experience, which pretty much makes me an expert as far as I can tell

Act loads, shows the splash screen then disappears.

I have looked at the ACT knowledgebase and followed the instructions but to no avail.

It is ACT v6 running on XP Pro SP2.

Some sort of database opening error?

I've not had that one. I'm also running XP SP2.

Is this a new install or is it already configured to open a database?

If it knows what database it's opening you could try moving the database file so ACT loads and then it'll stop without trying to open the database. (Obviously make certain you have backups of you database file before playing around with it.)

If this is a fresh install have you loaded all the ACT updates? (I'm not certain but you might have to do them all one after the other?... I have patches 601, 602, and 603 installed).
