Lost my iphone, I am a complete Eejit...
Discussion
Maybe not for losing it though - I lost it whilst I was taking some landscape pictures with my DSLR camera in the dark. I was using the newly updated torch function in ios 7 (iphone 5) to help the camera focus in the dark and at some point I've either put it down and left it somewhere (unlikely) or it's fallen out of a pocket that I've forgotten to zip up after fishing a lens cap out (more likely).
So why am I proclaiming myself to be a complete eejit?
I became fed up with having to put the pin in to access the torch, so I disabled this securty feature for my own convenience just before it went awol. s
t.
To make matters worse, I must have lost it in a dead zone as I've been unable to use find my iphone to locate/lock/wipe it. s

t...
So anyone who finds it can, presumably access my photos, contacts, messages, emails and facebook?
Obviously I've changed all my passwords to all of the above plus paypal, ebay etc but I assume that the finder will be able to access all the content (emails) that resides in the phone's memory?
In order to complete an insurance claim for the phone I had to declare the phone lost with vodafone which prompted them to block it's IMEI number. Can anyone confirm that in doing so I will not be able to access it now with find my iphone and I shouldn't bother trying to access it every 2 hours anymore?
Is there anyway of accessing / tracing / wiping it if a finder were to connect it to itunes?
Also I lost it in a remote location on Sunday night and it's obviously rained since then. If the phone is now water damaged, could a tech savvy finder still access my data or will it likely be scrap by now?
Help?
Thanks...

Not sure, but the other-half did something similar last week.
I used the Find my iphone, and it was useless, although the phone should have had connectivity where it was lost. I then used the 'Lost' function, but did not get any notifications, but left a message with my mobile number on it.
Vodafone barred the IMEI, but the person who found the phone was able to get into the directory the next day and found 'home'. She used her phone to call us so I assume could not call out. How she did this confuses me, and I wonder now if I put the home number on the 'lost message'.
She was lucky to get it back, but in answer to your question, they will be able to get access if it will power up.

The good news OP, is that you seem to have 'find my phone/icloud'. An additional feature of iOS 7 is that even when blocked, no one can reset to factory settings unless YOU authorise it by using your Apple login. Even when blocked, it's still pinging to Apple. Keep trying the 'find my phone' feature. And send the 'phone a message to display 'if found, please contact XYZ'
The bad news? Apple released an iOS7 update today. The update fixes a bug that allows someone to access the 'phone without the a password.

That sound a bit more hopeful, but I don't understand. Are you saying they can wipe it due to a bug in the programming? If so that's not an issue as I want it wiped! The bad news? Soz that it's not helpful but on iOS7 you can pull up from the bottom of the lock screen and use control center to turn on the torch without putting in your code.
Also, in the new version of the PH forums you can read posts left by other users. It's so you don't reply with exactly the same information as someone from half an hour earlier...
Its a trap, see this thread...
