For me, there are a few good apps but one really stands out as one that has made a big difference to me and the one I find most impressive and that's Spotify.

It's just a music streaming app but you can get almost anything and the way you can see what friends are listening to and how it suggests other music you might like based on your songs, how it can generate radio stations based on what you like or genres etc. it had really changed how much music I listen to and enjoy.

Any others that really stand out?

Give that you give spotify as an example, can you define "app" for us?

I assumed that you meant things which are apps, rather than have apps.but I would class spotify in the latter group.

Myfitnesspal has probably been the one that has made the biggest difference for me.

Word Lens is pretty good. Useful for menus when abroad:

+1

I've used it in places where I could barely make out anything from a track (too loud, too much distortion, way too much ambient noise) and it still manages to figure it out.

Without getting into an argument about semantics I'd say Spotify is my most used app, if I pretend Clash of Clans doesn't exist. I love the fact I can stream the music via bluetooth to the car stereo etc. Once they finally made the ipad version I completely stopped using the PC version.

Other apps I use:
Fing, tells me what is on the network in a nice simple fast way.
Goto Assist, use it for rebooting servers and connecting to countless work computers/laptops for support.
Google shopper and various barcode scanner apps for shopping.
Strava for cycling, I love my data and info so this is great.
Newsstand, I only read magazines on the ipad now and haven't read a paper one for years.
NavFree, can't believe how good this and so much better than paying for dedicated satnav.

Citymapper.

If you live in London, you need this in your life.

If you like your music you should try TUNEIN. Spotify is paid app if you want the full version, Tunein is FREE. Tunein is pure radio app but there is no limitation of the choices of radio station from around the globe. You can search for music by almost anything, from song to specific world region etc. Brilliant.

+1 for Shazam, Navfree & Tunein Radio.

My most used app is Flipboard - it's free & I haven't bought a newspaper since I discovered it. Loads of car & bike content too wink

Another vote for Citymapper. Once I realised how good it was it replaced a whole folder of apps and shortcuts. If you have an Oyster card you need Citymapper!

F1 timing app is pretty good. It isn't cheap but worth the cash.
