Where can you get them with bigger than normal capacity?

The standard ones all seem to be around 650-700Mb.

Simply Computers sell them - TDK 800Mb.

WARNING: Are you sure your burner will recognise them as such?

I've seen them be seen as a 650 before?

Well worth checking.

You can get upto about 800Mb using "overburning" which all but the oldest readers can cope with. After that you run out of space/storage density. DVD writers are really cheap you know!

Whats the real risk to the computers rewriter?

None. A few dont' support this (and some software doesn't let you either) but the writer will refuse to do it in those cases. As far as I am aware there is no way this can damage the writer.

iirc this works by burning closer to the edge of the disc than the specs originally allowed for giving more space.
