Oh **** ! I think my motherboard's just packed in. It's only recognising one (on board) network port (the other one is dead, no lights), the sound card isn't recognised (it doesn't appear under Control Panel/System/Hardware), neither does the modem.

I've tried reinstalling the sound card software (from CD that came with it), I've tried swapping round PCI cards. The on board sound isn't showing up either. When I go into Control Panel / Sounds and Audio it says I dont have any audio devices. I've installed or changed nothing ... one minute it was working fine, I took the PC down (so I could power cycle the router) and it came back up like this.

Anything you think I can try ?!?

Reset the CMOS. Worth a try.

Sounds like a power spike went down the patch cable into the pc when you power cycled the router. Took out the nic and the stuff around it on the motherboard. Is everything grounded properly? Given that you are evidently having problems with the router anyway, I'd sure look at replacing it...
