McAfee annoyance

I've been through both several times over the years as well. Mcafee's strenght was antivirus software, norton's was diagnostic software, both were great in their fields until they decided to expand into new areas and lost their focus. I won't touch either of them anymore.

I now recommend AVG antivirus, I have been using it for over a year now with no compaints, and its free! They have regular updates, it has detected and thwarted seveal virus on my system, nothing has slipped by, and it always gets great reviews from the press.

zonealarm - I use that too, with great success for several years and many upgrades, with no problems. Are you sure that you don't have the 'stop' icon clicked on the main screen that will shut down all access? If you look at your browser in the list of programs in zonealarm does it have a check mark next to it or is it disallowed? More info on what exactly doesn't work, along with any changes that you might have made could help troubleshoot it.

So you're saying you didn't buy it, the 30 days grace has expired and now you're complaining.

I bought McAfee Virus scan and apart from it slowing my machine down when building massive C++ projects, it works, and I don't notice it.
