Itunes

Guys i've downloaded some tunes for my son from itunes. I need to put them on his MP3 player. For some reason they ahve come down as M4P files? or something. Now I need to convert them but Itunes wont let me.
Any suggestions?

Another itunes question chaps.

I have a CD that I want to rip to my pc. When entered into the drive it doesn't play through itunes and is copywrited (Red Hot Chili's).

Anyways around this copywrite issue ?

The only way I know would be to play the CD in an external source through the line level input in your PC sound card, record each track as a WAV and then encode the WAV as an MP3.

There maybe some software out there that gets around the issue though...

I thought there was a fix , like a shift key (tried all) or something ?

too afraid to connect it in case it wipes itself off

I know that it needs to be in manual sync first

I guess if it shows up in explorer that you can just copy and paste...

AFAIK, there are two ways to store music on the ipod:

• Load it via itunes, and listen to it, but never get it from the ipod other than deleting it

• Load it via explorer with the ipod mounted as external harddrive. Copy songs in any direction, but you can't listen to it via ipod

This is the reason, why I would never buy an ipod. itunes and Apple's DRM strategy are to stop me from doing what I want with music files. This doesn't have to be sharing them; it's just that they deliberately hinder the user to have full control. As cool as it looks and as easy as itunes is to use, I buy a player that gives me full control.

yep but the second use then turns it in no more than an external drive

so which would you recommend then bearing in mind that it needs to be playable in the car......

There is a shareware program you can download called podworks www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/17443 that will let you copy the MP3 files from the iPod back to your computer.

There's one that might not be 100% legal in the EU, because it brings FM broadcast functionality out of the box. Advantage is, you need no cable to listen to your player via you car's receiver.
