Any decent GPS tracker/geofence android apps?

Hi

I'm trying to find an app (paid or not) that has a geo fencing facility so that if the phone goes out of a preset boundary it sends a text message with it's location.

I've found loads of apps that do the geofencing facility but tend to require data/internet access; I want to use this on an old spare android phone with a pay as you go SIM card on which I don't have data. I just want it to text me if it goes out on the area.

I found a few (one just called Geofence, for example) but all have terrible reviews/bugs/embedded spam etc.

Can anyone actually RECOMMEND one they've used that actually works well?

I got one for the wife's keys that is the other way round, it's Kensington device that works off of bluetooth, so when the phone looses contact with the fob it sets off an alarm.

Can also be used to find keys.

Tasker should be able to do this, you can store co-ordinates in a variable and put them into a text quite easily.

Depending on how much you wish to keep track of whatever you're keeping track of, a limited data contract might make sense. Cheap giffgaff sim, £7.50 a month and 250mb data.

I say this as whilst the phone will text you as it leaves the boundary, how are you going to track it once it has left the boundary? It could be long gone by the time you get to the exit point. I could be well off the mark of course. if you had data, then the find my android feature could be more useful.
