You may remember a while back I posted about Blueyonder's 50% faster upgrade...

Well they're at it again - now 33% faster at no extra cost from January(ish)

NTL are doing the same in Feb next year. 750kb connection will jump to 2mb for no extra cost.

I think the 1.5mb jumps to 3mb and the 512kb jumps to 1mb.

Except that its only download speed, not upload which is STILL 256kbps Oh, and 50:1 contention.

Still not bad though.

...potentially!

I like the fact that most of my neighbours probably don't even know what cable TV is, let alone have it and far less use it for BB internet!

I'm not sure whether the contention is between you and your neighbours or at the ISP - does anyone know which one? OR both?

Well, thats not entirely accurate.

What was the blueyonder 512k service, is currently the 768k service and will be the 1M service, only has a 128k upload speed.

However, contention ratios are more relevent to ADSL; cable broadband doesn't work in the same way. There is still contention, but it doesn't fall into these 20:1 and 50:1 ratios that ADSL has.
